Monarch exports a clean, signed CSV, and Fyncora has a verified preset for it — including its tags and its per-download row cap.

What you'll need

A Monarch transactions CSV. In Monarch on the web, go to Settings → Data and select Download transactions. The file has the columns Date, Merchant, Category, Account, Original Statement, Notes, Amount, Tags.

Note:

Note: Monarch caps each download at 10,000 rows, and Fyncora imports up to 5,000 rows per file. If you have years of history, export in date ranges — a year at a time works well — and keep each file under ~5,000 rows.

Import your history

  1. In Fyncora, open Transactions and select Switch from another app.
  2. Pick Monarch Money.
  3. Upload your CSV — or several at once, if you exported in batches.
  4. Map each Monarch account to a Fyncora account, creating any that don't exist yet.
  5. Review the category matches and the preview, then commit.

Monarch writes signed amounts — positive is money in, negative is money out — and the preset reads them exactly that way, so nothing arrives flipped. Dates are read as YYYY-MM-DD, Monarch Tags become Fyncora tags, and Original Statement is kept in notes. Category names are matched to yours (Monarch's "Restaurants & Bars" lands in Dining); anything unmatched arrives uncategorized for you to fix in bulk.

What comes across, and what doesn't

Comes across: your dated transactions with amounts, merchants, categories and tags.

Doesn't come across: budgets, recurring rules, and goals. Those are quick to set up fresh in Fyncora, and they'd be wrong if we guessed them.

After the import

Check a handful of rows before you trust the totals — a paycheck should be positive, groceries negative. If anything looks wrong, open Transactions, find the import batch, and select Delete batch to remove everything that import created in one step.

FAQ

Why are income and expenses swapped? The file was read with the wrong rules — a Mint-style read expects positive amounts plus a type column, which Monarch doesn't have. Delete the batch and re-import with Monarch Money selected as the source.

My date-range exports overlap — did I double my history? No. Fyncora fingerprints each row (date, amount, description, account) and skips ones it already has, so overlapping ranges are safe.

Why were some rows rejected? Usually dates: Monarch writes YYYY-MM-DD, and a file that's been opened and resaved in a spreadsheet app may not any more. Export a fresh file and re-import.
